Authorities in the bahamas have detained an island lawmaker and a paramedic in an alleged plot to extort money from actor john travolta after the death of his son, the associated press Bridgewater was charged with conspiracy and freed on bond. A paramedic arrested in the case is still in custody.

Two others were detained in connection with the alleged plot including an attorney and former minister of tourism, a close friend of the family, who no longer appears to be a suspect.
